The geological society of Scania (SKGS) was founded 1979. The Geological Society of Scania is a non profit organization and is dedicated to promote the general knowledge of the mineralogical and related earth sciences through the study and collecting mineral specimens. A number of members are also promoting gem cutting and general lapidary arts.
In our local in Malmö we have lectures
for the members every month (except June, July and December).
These are the last Monday in the month.
We also arrange fieldtrips to different kinds of locations such as mines
and quarries to study and collect interesting minerals and rock samples.
Sometimes we collect fossils. We also travel to interesting areas to see
how the geological procedures formed the landscape
